
Cardiff University – Residence Life Identity
Creating a welcoming brand for student wellbeing and support.
As part of its commitment to improving the student experience, Cardiff University introduced a new service under its Student Support & Wellbeing Division — Residence Life — with the aim of fostering a sense of belonging, inclusion, and smooth transition into university life.
We were appointed to develop a brand identity that would communicate the service’s values and support its mission to connect the living and learning experience. The identity needed to speak directly to new students, reflect the proactive and inclusive ethos of the programme, and be effective across a wide range of physical, digital, and printed environments.
Our approach began with research and insight gathering, including an assessment of how students interact with support services during their arrival and induction period. Based on these findings, we created a comprehensive, student-focused design system that was modern, engaging, and easy to navigate.
The visual identity was rolled out across key touchpoints — including signage, printed guides, digital platforms, and welcome materials — ensuring consistent and high-impact messaging throughout the residences and wider campus.
